The family of a British couple detained in Iran say they are “desperately worried” following reports they have been denied supplies and medical care

Craig and Lindsay Foreman have refused food for nine and eight weeks, respectively, over their prison conditions, the family says

Lindsay Foreman has lost more than 14kg (31lb) and is suffering severe vertigo, tremors and profound physical weakness, according to the Human Rights Activists News Agency (Hrana)

She is now “dangerously weak”, the family says

The US-based agency has also reported Craig Foreman – who first went on strike when phone access was cut off – has lost about 16kg (35lb)

In a letter published on Tuesday, the family wrote to the East Sussex couple: “Please remember that you are loved by so many people

“We need your voices, your presence, your laughter, and your company

“We need you well. We need you alive.”

    ‘Act without delay’

Medication, glasses, books and basic hygiene products sent to the couple by the British Embassy in Tehran have been withheld, Hrana has reported

The family called this a “direct violation of a formal guarantee previously given to the British ambassador”

They urged the UK government to “act without delay” to get medical access and supplies to the pair, alongside their ultimate release

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office has been approached for a comment

Craig and Lindsay Foreman remain barred from contacting their children or loved ones, the family have said

Lindsay Foreman’s son Joe Bennett, from Kent, is set to go to Parliament on Wednesday to meet with MPs about the couple’s situation

He says they are “starving themselves because every other route has been closed to them”

The couple were detained in January 2025 by Iranian authorities while travelling through the country on a trip around the world

The move is widely viewed as an attempt by Iran’s government to get leverage over the UK
