Ottawa, ON (July 25, 2026) — Canada’s Women’s Artistic Gymnastics team captured the silver medal at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, finishing with a score of 157.300. For the second consecutive day, Canada reached the podium as the Canadian women showcased their depth, consistency and resilience across all four apparatus to earn a Commonwealth silver medal.

The silver-medal-winning team was made up of Ellie Black (NS), Gabrielle Black (ON), Lia-Monica Fontaine (QC), Lia Redick (ON), and Alyssa Guerrier-Calixte (QC).

Individually, Canada’s athletes delivered several standout performances throughout the competition. Lia-Monica Fontaine led Canada on vault with another powerful showing, while Ellie Black delivered one of the team’s top balance beam routines. Lia Redick shined on floor exercise with a dynamic performance, Alyssa Guerrier-Calixte added an important vault score to Canada’s silver-medal effort, and Gabrielle Black also made a valuable contribution to the team’s silver-medal performance.

“I’m so excited to be back competing. This is my first all-around competition since returning, and I’ve only recently started training vault and floor again, so those events are still coming along. I’m really proud to be back competing all-around, to be with this amazing team, and to experience the Commonwealth Games again. I’m just having so much fun.” said Ellie Black, women’s all-around finalist.

Ellie Black and Lia-Monica Fontaine both advanced to the Women’s All-Around Final after outstanding qualification performances. Black topped the standings with a score of 53.400 to qualify first overall, while Fontaine secured her place in the final in fifth with 52.050.

Canada’s depth was on full display in the individual qualifications, with the team earning multiple apparatus final spots. Lia-Monica Fontaine topped the vault standings with a score of 13.750, while Ellie Black advanced to the uneven bars final in second place with 13.850. Ellie Black and Lia-Monica Fontaine will also represent Canada in the balance beam final after qualifying fifth and sixth, respectively, with scores of 12.900 and 12.850. Lia Redick was named second reserve on uneven bars with a score of 12.650.

The Men’s and Women’s All-Around Finals will take place on Sunday, July 26, at 7:00 AM ET and 1:00 PM ET, respectively. The apparatus finals will follow on Monday, July 27, and Tuesday, July 28, beginning at 8:00 AM ET on both days.

Fans can follow all the action through live streaming on CBC Gem and CBC Sports, live results and written coverage on CBC Sports, as well as daily recap shows on the CBC Sports YouTube channel.
