The Ohio Department of Health is asking for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for help amid the cyclosporiasis outbreak in Ohio

The CDC says it’s sending several “disease detectives” to the state for about three weeks to assist with the cyclosporiasis investigation

Federal health officials will be talking with people who’ve tested positive for the parasite in order to identify common locations and foods, and coordinate with the state on outbreak tracing efforts

Hamilton County Public Health tells FOX19 NOW they have not heard anything about CDC personnel coming to the southwest Ohio area

The assumption is that the requested CDC help is for northeastern Ohio

There have only been 16 confirmed cases of cyclosporiasis in Hamilton County
