DURHAM, N.C. — Duke Health has been selected as an Access Provider in the North Carolina State Health Plan’s new tiered provider network for 2027, ensuring state employees and their families can continue receiving care through Duke beginning January 1, 2027

The agreement ensures State Health Plan members will continue to have access to high quality, affordable care as the Plan introduces its new tiered provider network. Access Providers help ensure members can continue receiving high quality, affordable under the Plan’s new provider network. For members who choose Duke Health, that means continued access to the full spectrum of Duke Health services, from routine primary care to nationally recognized specialty care, including cancer care, transplants and other highly specialized treatments.

“Every day, teachers, law enforcement officers, firefighters and so many other public servants dedicate their careers to serving North Carolina,” said David Zaas, M.D., chief executive officer of Duke Health. “They deserve a health system that is equally committed to serving them.”

As an Access Provider, Duke Health will continue offering State Health Plan members access to its statewide network of hospitals, physician practices and ambulatory locations across North Carolina, connecting <a href="https://healthylife7.com/weight-loss-drugs-could-help-treat-patients-with-eating-disorders/” title=”Weight loss drugs could help treat patients with eating disorders”>patients to the full range of primary care, specialty care and highly specialized treatments available through Duke Health. In 2025, State Health Plan members received care through Duke Health more than 253,000 times

“Serving State Health Plan members is both a privilege and a responsibility for Duke Health,” Zaas said. “Our priority is making sure State Health Plan members and their families can continue turning to Duke Health. We’re grateful to Treasurer Brad Briner and his team for working with us to reach an agreement that preserves access to Duke Health for the people who serve our state every day.”
