High over downtown Atlanta, a sprawling, two-story gym that’s been mothballed since the Great Recession is seeking big ideas (and substantial capital) for a revival.
The former Peachtree Center Athletic Club at 227 Courtland St. NE has been closed since 2009, but it<a href="https://www.cushmanwakefield.com/en/united-states/properties/for-lease/office/ga/atlanta/227-courtland-street-northeast/s122146142s122146961-l” rel=”nofollow noopener” target=”_blank”>came to marketfor lease for the first time a couple of months ago and remains available, according to commercial real estate firm Cushman & Wakefield.
Yes, the full-court basketball court, indoor track with downtown views, an empty large swimming pool—it’s all still up there. (Funfact: While campaigning, President Barack Obama and his team worked out at the athletic club before jetting off to a Cobb County town hall meeting in 2008.)
Built in 1985, the old athletic club counts about 74,000 square feet across two stories, with ceiling heights of 16 to 25 feet and floor-to-ceiling windows. Beneath that is a parking garage with 966 parking spaces.

Perks of the facility include direct covered access— Center food and shopping, AmericasMart Atlanta, and major hotels.
According to Cushman & Wakefield, ownership capital improvements at the 10-story property will include new modernized elevators in early 2027 and more efficient parking ticketing with license-plate readers
Each floor counts just over 37,000 square feet, where lease terms are negotiable and rates aren’t publicly disclosed.
