There is still time for another workout at Connecticut Post Mall.
The LA Fitness establishment at the mall remains open, despite announcing in the spring its intent to close the location on June 24. It is not clear what prompted the change of plans, but the continued presence of one of the mall’s largest tenants has been welcomed by local officials.

“We do communicate regularly with mall management on a number of topics, but our understanding was that this was a matter between LA Fitness and the mall’s ownership and management,” Robert Townes, Milford’s director of economic and community development, said in an email this week. “At the end of the day, we’re pleased they were able to work things out and that LA Fitness will remain at the Connecticut Post Mall. They’ve been a longtime part of the Milford community, so we’re happy to see them staying.”

A spokesperson for the mall’s management provided a written statement that said, “As a matter of policy, we do not comment on individual tenants, tenant leases or tenant-related matters.”
Messages left for Fitness International, the parent company of LA Fitness, were not returned.

LA Fitness has operated at Connecticut Post Mall since 2012. It occupies 39,500 square feet, according to a sign on the mall’s second level.
Newcomers on the second floor include The Bristol Bazaar, JD Sports and Pandora Jewelry. JD Sports appears to have replaced the Finish Line store on the mall’s first level, as a sign noting the opening of JD Sports is posted outside the former Finish Line storefront. JD Sports and Finish Line have the same parent company.
While LA Fitness is staying at Connecticut Post Mall, its footprint in the state has changed significantly in the past couple of years. On April 7, it closed its center at 761 Main Ave., in Norwalk. In January 2025, it shut down its establishment in Newington

The building at 761 Main Ave., will not be idle for long, as signs there announce that a Club Studio is “coming soon.” Club Studio is a premium brand of Fitness International.
Another Club Studio is planned at 699 Canal St., in Stamford, a property that housed a Fairway Market until its closing in August 2020.
The sole existing Club Studio in Connecticut — at 100 Cedar Ave., in South Windsor — opened in March 2025. LA Fitness had operated there for years, followed by a short-lived E-Sporta Fitness, which closed in 2022. E-Sporta was another Fitness International chain, but its clubs have been rebranded to LA Fitness.

Meanwhile, LA Fitness continues to operate four other centers in Connecticut — in Farmington, Stamford, Stratford and Trumbull.
