The Anambra first lady, Dr Nonye Soludo, has urged Nigerians to make healthy food choices by embracing local fruits, vegetables, legumes and tubers rich in the nutrients needed by the body, adding that natural foods are one of the greatest gifts to mankind
Soludo, who is also the founder of the non-governmental organisation, ‘Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo’, said when people choose natural foods over highly processed ones, it reduces the risk of many lifestyle diseases, boosts immunity and helps them enjoy more energy for daily activities
She stated this in a press statement she released on Monday, pointing out that healthy eating is not about expensive meals or strict dieting, but about making simple, wise choices every day
She said, “One of the greatest gifts we can give our body is to go back to nature. Our local fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains, roots and tubers are rich in the nutrients our bodies need to stay healthy and strong
“When we choose natural foods over highly processed ones, we reduce the risk of many lifestyle diseases, boost our immunity, improve digestion, maintain healthy body weight, and enjoy more energy for our daily activities
“Remember that healthy eating is not about expensive meals or strict dieting. It’s about making simple, wise choices every day
“Let’s embrace the goodness of nature, fill our plates with wholesome foods, and remember that every healthy meal is an investment in a longer, stronger and happier life.”
