Niall Harbison has seen more than his share of tragic situations through his Thailand animal rescue, Happy Doggo. The animal advocate comes across canines suffering from various medical conditions and injuries, as well as emotional heartbreak
Trigger is a little puppy who was abandoned with a horrific skin condition while coping with the loss of his fur baby brother. Harbison stepped in to help the precious pooch and was amazed at Trigger’s willingness to trust
Trigger was dumped in a local temple with his fur baby brother, who soon lost his life after being hit by a car. The precious puppy was left behind, suffering from a painful skin condition all on his own. Harbison was called in by local residents to help the Trigger and quickly got him the medical treatment he needed

Now under Harbison’s care at Happy Doggo, Trigger has maintained his trusting spirit and loving heart despite the trauma he’s experienced. In an Instagram video from @niall.harbison, the rescue founder held Trigger in his arms as the canine cutie seemed to have a smile on his face
“Although he was dumped in the streets and his brother died and his skin is in absolute agony, you cannot break the spirit of some dogs,” the caption read. “I might be imagining it but little trigger cannot stop smiling. His tail will not stop wagging and I don’t even need a leash for him. He just follows along and is obsessed with human company.”
Trigger ‘Adores Humans’
Harbison added that Trigger also had a massive amount of ticks and fleas that were being treated. Even with all of that discomfort, the puppy was happy to just be around people
“He absolutely adores humans,” Harbison said in the video just 24 hours after the pup’s rescue, and set Trigger on the ground to show how the fur baby just stayed by his side rather than running away. “I don’t even have a leash on him. You would think after all the trouble he’s been through with humans — been dumped up in the jungle, etc. — that he would run a million miles away. But there’s certain dogs that will just follow you around… you can tell that he just wants human attention and love.”

Trigger is clearly feeling safe in his new environment, and the Happy Doggo team is fully committed to the pup’s recovery
“The comeback has started for Mr. Trigger,” Harbison concluded, adding, “Street dogs — they never cease to amaze me.”
Harbison launched Happy Doggo in 2021. In addition to the sterilization and daily feeding of thousands of street dogs, he recently opened a full-service medical clinic in honor of his beloved Golden Retriever, Tina, and a retirement village for senior dogs
