COLDSPRING — A new chapter in local fitness and community wellness officially began Saturday as Team Dean Fitness celebrated its membership in the Coldspring Chamber of Commerce with a ribbon-cutting ceremony
Owner and operator Travis Dean, a lifelong member of the Coldspring community, welcomed Chamber representatives, friends, family and community members as Team Dean Fitness received its official Chamber plaque
For Dean, however, the opening represents much more than simply starting another business. Dean has called Coldspring home since 1990. A Coldspring High School graduate, he has watched the community grow and has raised his own family here. His connection to the community, and to the Trojan family, was a major reason behind his decision to open the facility
“We just wanted to see something nice in town and something that would keep us busy and continue to give back to the community,” Dean said
That idea of giving back appears to be at the heart of Team Dean Fitness. Dean said the facility was designed to provide something for a wide range of people, while keeping the needs of the local community in mind
Membership options include discounts for teachers, nurses, government employees, firefighters and law enforcement officers, while family memberships offer additional savings. The facility will also offer professional training, with several trainers already involved as Team Dean Fitness continues to establish itself in the community
But Dean sees an even bigger opportunity. One of his primary goals is to make the facility a place where local seniors can remain active and connected
“As I look around the community, we have a lot of seniors moving into the area,” Dean explained. “I’m getting toward being one of the seniors myself, so this is a big benefit to get people out here for their own well-being.”
Dean said additional features and services are already being considered as the business grows. Rather than trying to build everything at once, he wants Team Dean Fitness to develop alongside the community it serves. For a business owner with deep Coldspring roots, that approach seems fitting. Team Dean Fitness isn’t simply opening its doors; it is becoming another part of the community Dean has called home for more than three decades
Team Dean Fitness is located in Coldspring and is now open to the community
