Michelle Pfeiffer is shutting down rumors that she’s on the precipice of retiring

The three-time Oscar nominee addressed the speculation on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where the host displayed several headlines featuring the rumor

Pfeiffer, 68, told Fallon, 51, that it’s “the most ridiculous thing.”

“No, you said it!” argued Fallon

“No, no. All I said was I really love working with an ensemble cast,” said Pfeiffer, exasperated, adding that she knew she would get in trouble “the minute it came out of my mouth.”

Much of the speculation was that Pfeiffer preferred working on television shows and forgoing movie roles

“I said something about I never want to star in another movie,” Pfeiffer noted, “And they took that out of context. And, of course, I want to star in another movie.”

“They’re always saying that I’m retiring,” she added

Pfeiffer said she is “so blessed” to have worked on “three ensemble pieces in a row.”

The Golden Globe winner appeared in the 2025 film Oh. What. Fun., which also starred Felicity Jones, Chloë Grace Moretz, Denis Leary, Dominic Sessa, with Jason Schwartzman, Eva Longoria, and Joan Chen

“It’s wonderful to be able to live with a character for such an extended period of time, and you can really just, you know, go deeper and find all of the different layers. But it’s also really wonderful, and most important to me, that I get to work with all of this talent,” she explained

Pfeiffer added, “It’s an embarrassment of riches, the actors that I’ve worked with.”
