Miss. (WDAM) – Many incoming freshmen are preparing to take a swing at college life, and this isn’t just a new journey for them, but their parents as well
“When you’re stepping from the home life into this college arena, it’s a new world, and there are so many changes all at one time,” Pine Grove administrator Leah Claire Bennett said. “Depending on if you’re really close to home, or going really far away, you’re having to learn a whole new system.”
Pine Grove outpatient services director Christina Williams says inside the stress you may feel from this lies important life lessons
“As parents, we do try to prepare them in every way that we can, but it’s actually really good for them to have some distress,” Williams said. “You’re building a toughness that they’re going to need for not knowing what to do, and how to figure that out on their own. Who do we ask for help? How do we ask for help?”
Bennett says it’s important for college students to remember the things they have learned and the success they have achieved
Bennett says college presents many opport<a href="https://healthylife7.com/new-unit-a-shot-in-the-arm-for-healthcare-research-in-africa/” title=”New unit a shot in the arm for healthcare research in Africa”>unities to young adults that should be utilized
“There are tons of re up for these anxieties that the normal transition will have happen for the college student.”
As for the parents, Bennett advises them to create a safe space for their kids in college, and to explore new adventures for themselves
“We all need things to connect with other people on. Hobbies are a great way, and friendships obviously are a great thing to have,” Bennett said. “Connection is so important for us, our lives, and being able to keep us healthy, and those social connections that we can develop in many different ways are things we need to always be advocating for ourself.”
