A consultation has been launched into plans for a new outdoor gym by the coast in East Sussex
The proposed calisthenics facility in East Saltdean would include bars, climbing equipment for strength training and <a href="https://healthylife7.com/regular-exercise-linked-to-lower-disease-activity-in-axial-spondyloarthritis/” title=”Regular Exercise Linked to Lower Disease Activity in Axial Spondyloarthritis”>exercise for all age groups
Lewes District Council said that the consultation followed its decision to drop plans for a skatepark at the site after a public survey found more than half of respondents opposed the scheme

Concerns included safety, maintenance and the existence of the nearby skatepark at The Oval in Saltdean
Laurence O’Connor, councillor for East Saltdean and Telscombe Cliffs, said that the gym could provide an “accessible and free-to-use facility that promotes health and wellbeing”
“The undercliff is a unique coastal space, and we want to make sure any investment reflects what local people want to see there,” he added
Lewes District Council said that it was also considering a biodiversity planter at the base of the cliff to help protect people from chalk falls and support local wildlife
The undercliff sits beneath a nationally important Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), recognised for its geological features, rare plants and wildlife

The consultation is due to close on 14 September
