Parkinson’s Disease Trailblazers of Sweat Therapy Fitness was recently named as the third quarter recipient of a donation of $28,600 from 100 Women Who Care Tallahassee
It’s hard to put into words the enthusiasm, caring, passion and dedication that Kim Bibeau projects when speaking about something so obviously close to her heart — namely Parkinson’s Disease Trailblazers of Sweat Therapy Fitness
Bibeau is the founder and tireless leader of this organization since its inception in 2012. Through early collaboration with FSU med students, a program was created to provide exercise and movement to improve strength, balance, flexibility, and community for those living with PD
The various programs available have expanded to fit all stages of PD and even includes Rock Steady Boxing, a non-contact boxing regimen
Participants are extremely grateful and attribute the programs to changing their lives
Helping Bibeau to provide helpful classes is the manager, Julie Puckett, who has a long history in the field of physical fitness and Kim’s husband, Brian, (who has PD) run the facility, as well as volunteers in the community. Through their tireless efforts, Sweat Therapy Fitness is recognized as a leading center for PD fitness
100 Women Who Care Tallahassee’s 278 members are committed to supporting deserving organizations in Leon County. Each quarter three nonprofits are chosen by a drawing from nominations submitted by members
The three organizations are invited to have a representative give a presentation of the pertinent information and mission of the respective organization. Members are encouraged to attend in person, but attendance and voting on-line is available, to choose the quarterly recipient
Since its inception in 2020, over $635,000 has been donated to 501C3 local groups. Should you wish to become a part of this group of women who through their $100 quarterly commitment has provided much needed financial support to deserving local nonprofits, contact founder, Virginia Glass, at 100wwctlh.gmail.com
