To support patients facing supply or financial hurdles, Noom has launched a free iteration of its GLP-1 Companion software, eliminating the previous subscription barrier. The application, which helps manage GI side effects, mitigate muscle mass depletion, and track baseline behavior, is now accessible to all individuals on weight-loss medications, independent of their primary provider
Internal clinical trials conducted by the firm indicate that standard GLP-1 patients drop therapy within 12 months, frequently triggering immediate weight regain. Noom data from a recent randomized controlled trial shows that patients utilizing its digital behavioral program alongside GLP-1 therapy lose 1.4 times more weight than individuals on medication alone. Further modeled estimates from the company indicate that users who maintained behavioral tracking post-medication limited their body weight regain to less than 2% over a 12-month cessation period.
The un-monetized tier integrates automated tools directly into the existing mobile ecosystem, including photo-based nutritional analysis and custom protein calculations. By deploying these features at zero cost, the company is positioning the platform as an infrastructure extension for primary care clinics that lack the operational hours to provide continuous nutritional oversight between physical appointments. Noom Chief Executive Officer Geoff Cook stated that making the program free “puts that research-backed support within reach of everyone.”
