Va. (WDBJ) – Millions of people are living with chronic inflammation — which may be affecting their long-term health
The condition is also referred to as slow, long-term inflammation that can last several months to years
While inflammation is a natural part of the body’s defense mechanism to help heal wounds, chronic inflammation is a prolonged response where the body mistakenly attacks healthy tissues or struggles to eliminate an irritant
Because it is often body-wide rather than localized, chronic inflammation can be difficult to pinpoint
However, symptoms can include fatigue, pain, digestive issues, and mental health issues like anxiety, depression or brain fog
Fortunately, there are things you can do to help fight inflammation — and one of those things is an anti-inflammatory diet
Here @ Home sits down with Dr. Dave Hamilton with New River Natural Health to discuss the foods you should be eating if you want to fight inflammation
Since our food choices influence the level of inflammation in our bodies, the anti-inflammatory diet is thought to curb chronic inflammation and help prevent or treat the following conditions: allergies, Alzheimer’s disease, arthritis, asthma, cancer, depression, diabetes, gout, heart disease, inflammatory bowel disease (such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and stroke
More and more research suggests that an anti-inflammatory diet may play a key role in scores of health conditions
Recipes like a high protein breakfast bowl and other easy recipes are a great way to start an anti-inflammatory diet
