Food’s new OS gets fresh funding

Salud. Serial entrepreneur Marc Lore’s “programmable cooking platform” Wonder closed a $650M Series D with an IPO ratchet, aiming to go public as soon as 2027

Backed by Accel, GV, and ARK Invest, Wonder has raised $3B+ since 2018, acquiring Grubhub, Blue Apron, and Spyce to build a vertically integrated Personalized Nutrition OS

Kitchen scale. Lore’s goal is 10K AI-powered ghost kitchens by 2040, each operating 1K different restaurants from a single 2.5K-sq-ft space. Prepping for hypergrowth, the company named Chipotle’s former CFO to its board and partnered with Zipline to roll out drone delivery in Texas, emphasizing the tech’s ability to reach rural areas

Tall order.Shrugging off reports of red ink and a high burn rate, Lore argues the long-term economics are sound, with the capital-intensive start creating a moat and robotics reducing overhead. Investor materials projected ~$5.5B in net revenue and positive cash flow by 2030

Diner dash. Earlier this year, Lore announced a restaurant vibe coding tool Wonder Create, promising to generate custom virtual restaurants and personalized menus from a single prompt — betting influencer-made storefronts will steer the public toward Wonder with zero CAC

N-of-1. Wonder will beta test at-home blood testing this fall, developing an AI agent called MEL to turn consumer biomarkers and body comp data into goal-oriented, personalized meal plans. Autopilot grocery services and <a href="https://<a href="https://healthylife7.com/what-my-fitness-watch-couldnt-tell-me-about-my-health/” title=”What my fitness watch couldn't tell me about my health”>healthylife7.com/health-department-offers-update-on-cyclosporiasis-cases/” title=”Health Department offers update on cyclosporiasis cases”>healthy oven-ready options are also in the pipeline

Takeaway: Wellness has been concentrated on the coasts, but Wonder is building a country-wide OS. Optimizing for access over enjoyment, it wants to close the loop on personalized nutrition while solving affordability issues — not replace the social dining experience
