Tenn. (WBBJ) – The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office and Decatur County Emergency Management will conduct an active shooter training exercise at Decaturville Elementary School on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m
Officials said the exercise is fully controlled and involves no active emergency or threat to the public
Emergency responders from across Decatur County are scheduled to participate, including:
- Decatur County Sheriff’s Office
- Decatur County Emergency Management
- Decatur County Fire & EMS
- Decatur County Rescue Squad
- Decatur County 911
- Decatur County School System
- State and federal law enforcement partners
Residents may notice an increased presence of emergency vehicles and personnel near the school during the exercise
Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area around Decaturville Elementary School between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Traffic may be heavier than normal on West Highland Street and South West Street
