La. (KNOE) – As part of the Eat Fit group of restaurants in Northeast Louisiana, we brought on Flying Heart Brewing & Pub to talk about their cauliflower crust pizza
Eat Fit is a non-profit initiative through Ochsner LSU Health where partner restaurants will submit items that fit their “Eat Fit” macros. It takes the guesswork out of finding something healthy at a restaurant. Participating locations will have the “Eat Fit” logo next to those designated items
They have a free app you can download for recipes or to find the nearest participating location
Megan Kennedy, General Manager of Flying Heart in West Monroe, says they’ve got salads and cauliflower pizzas on their list of Eat Fit items
The crust is already lower in carbs and calories than a traditional pizza, but it also boasts the benefits of more vegetables in your diet
She showed us a few options where you can mix and match vegetables and sauces. This is an accessible healthy dinner option for the family to get creative together. Cauliflower crusts are available in many grocery stores, or you can buy a plain crust from Flying Heart to take home with you
Today we’re going with Flying Heart’s Mediterranean Pizza. Start with a ranch drizzle (yes, a drizzle, not a spread) and some olive oil. Add a few handfuls of mozzarella cheese, which is lower in fat than other cheeses. Follow that with banana peppers, red onion, black olives, and a pesto drizzle
This is a great roadmap, but you can switch up any of these pizzas with your choice of vegetables or sauce
