Frozen burritos sold at Costco spur public health alert

Health officials have issued a warning after packages of burritos sold at Costco were found to contain a different product
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued the health alert on Wednesday, July 29, cautioning consumers that the burritos are mislabeled and could contain undeclared allergens. While the products are no longer available for purchase, FSIS emphasized that they could still be in freezers and that consumers with egg allergies should not eat them
The issue was discovered by a consumer who opened a package of Red’s burritos to find it contained the wrong items. No reports of illness or adverse reactions have been reported to FSIS
Which burritos are included in the health alert?
The burritos bear the establishment number “EST. 46069” inside the USDA mark of inspection. They include:
- Red’s Steak Cilantro and Lime Burrito, 3-lb, 2-oz. cartons containing 10 individually wrapped burritos with production lots:

Where were the burritos sold?
The mislabeled Red’s burritos were sold at Costco stores in the following three states:
- Illinois
- Michigan
- Minnesota
What should I do if I bought these burritos?
If you have a pack of the affected burritos at home, FSIS advises against eating them, especially if you have an egg allergy. Consumers should throw the food items away or return them to the place of purchase
