Colo. (KKTV) – UPDATE:West Metro Fire Rescue (WMFR) gave an update Thursday on a firefighter who was sent to the hospital in critical condition after falling about 50 feet during a training exercise near Morrison
WMFR said Firefighter and Paramedic Jarrod Leonard has moved into intensive care late Wednesday
Leonard remains in “critical but stable condition” and is being closely monitored by a large team of healthcare professionals, WMFR said

West Metro Fire Rescue (WMFR) said crews were conducting a high-angle rescue training exercise in a steep and rocky area west of C-470 near Morrison just after 11 a.m. when Firefighter and Paramedic Jarrod Leonard fell
Crews say he fell approximately 50 feet
WMFR said Leonard was taken to a local hospital with critical injuries
As of 2:34 p.m., crews said he remains in critical condition and continues to receive treatment
Leonard is a technical instructor who helps train firefighters in the skills needed to perform rescues in challenging, technical environments
According to fire crews, Leonard has served West Mero for more than 23 years
