The woman charged with fatally stabbing a Kansas City firefighter-paramedic plans to pursue a defense of not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect
Attorneys for Shanetta Bossell notified the court they intend to rely on a defense of not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect and/or diminished capacity

They also disclosed they have provided prosecutors with a forensic psychological evaluation of Bossell conducted
Bossell is charged with first-degree murder and other felonies in the April 27, 2025, stabbing death of Kansas City firefighter-paramedic Graham Hoffman
Court documents say Hoffman was attacked while responding to assist her along Missouri Highway 152
The filings do not mean Bossell has been found incompetent to stand trial or that the court has accepted the defense
A trial setting hearing is scheduled for Friday morning in Clay County
