Department of Homeland Security issues statement regarding Roanoke restaurant chef detained by ICE

ROANOKE, Va. – The Department of Homeland Security released a statement to 10 News on Friday regarding a Roanoke Restaurant Chef who was detained by ICE

On August 4, Roanoke County PD arrested Selvin Alfredo Ramos Perez, a criminal illegal alien from Guatemala, for public intoxication. On the same day, ICE lodged a detainer with the Roanoke County Jail, who honored the detainer and transferred him into ICE custody. His prior crimes included two counts of traffic offense, two counts of public order crimes, fraud – false statement, fraud – impersonating, driving under the influence of liquor, and an arrest for hit and run
He will remain in ICE custody pending any removal proceedings
On or around March 17, 2011, Ramos-Perez illegally entered the United States near Sasabe, Arizona, and later was arrested by CBP. On May 19, 2011, and immigration judge granted him voluntary departure, which he accepted and left the country on June 22, 2011
On or around January 12, 2012, Ramos-Perez illegally re-entered the United States—a felony—and was subsequently arrested near Laredo, Texas. On September 3, 2015, and immigration judge issued him a final order of removal. On September 21, 2017, ICE encountered him at the Roanoke City Jail and processed him for final removal. ICE removed Ramos-Perez on October 18, 2017
At an unknown date and time, Ramos-Perez entered the United States for the third time, after being removed twice—another felony
Under President Trump and Secretary Mullin, ICE is targeting the worst of the worst. Nearly 70% of ICE arrests are of illegal aliens charged or convicted of a crime in the U.S
