    • Chrissy Metz, star of This Is Us, has decided to try a GLP-1 for weight loss after years of trying different approaches.
    • Chrissy has found the experience of taking the weight loss medication to be beneficial, helping her with food noise, mobility, joint pain, and inflammation.
    • Despite potential criticism, Chrissy is focused on prioritizing her health and well-being, emphasizing the importance of doing what is best for herself and not engaging with negative comments.

Chrissy Metz is ready to put her health first

The This Is Us star, 45, has long been candid about her weight journey, which was even used as a plot line in the ABC drama, though she has also long been skeptical about GLP-1s, which approximately 10 million people (about 15%of American adults) have now tried

But after years of trying different approaches to weight loss, she has finally tried a GLP-1, and has zero regrets

Speaking with People about her decision to get on the weight loss drug, Chrissy, now an ambassador for Ro, noted she’s “not getting any younger,” and explained: “I’m in perimenopause, and there were obesity issues within my family and with my father, and I felt like I’ve tried so many modalities, whether it was diets or therapy, and none of it really worked for me.”

Maintaining it’s been a “great” experience, she said: “I’ve enjoyed the benefits that I didn’t think would come, because I was very skeptical.”

“I was like, ‘I’m not taking this medication. I don’t wanna do this. It’s not gonna work for me.’ You know, all the things,” she recalled. “But when I realized food noise was really a thing, that consumed a lot of my head space, I was like, ‘Oh.'”

“It’s so nice not to be obsessing about what I’m going to have every minute, even as I’m still consuming the meal,” she continued, detailing just some of the benefits of the medication. “I just vilified food for so long because I was taught that it was bad, and you shouldn’t eat this or that.”

Chrissy, who is currently appearing on Broadway’s & Juliet, added: “And it’s been helping me be more mobile and have less joint pain and inflammation, and run around onstage, and just do things that would have been much more difficult several pounds and inches ago.”

Chrissy also addressed the criticism she might face, teasing when it comes to her, “everybody is judgy,” but maintaining it “doesn’t matter,” because people will judge her for not being on a GLP-1 just as they will for being on one

“I always say, they’re not in my life. They’re not in my doctor’s notes. They’re not in the hereditary issues my family has. My life is my life, and I have to do what’s best for me, and that includes not listening to the comments and just talking to people who are positive and kind. I can’t engage with something that doesn’t make me feel good,” she emphasized

“My thinking was, how can I better myself and put myself first, which has always been the bane of my existence because I’m a people pleaser,” she further shared. “But I know that my blood work is already better, and I’m headed in the right direction of getting ahead of things that needed getting ahead of.”

Chrissy lastly noted: “I know it’s not a magic wand, and I need to change other things, so I’ve been working with a trainer, and I’m lifting and putting on muscle and and it’s really about how comfortable I am, and learning what I’m capable of, so I really try not to have a number. I just want to feel strong and not have my morning ruined because I stepped on a scale and I’m several pounds above what I think I should be.”
