‘A little grace’: Kate Beckinsale pushes back on comments about her <a href="https://healthylife7.com/chrissy-metz-opens-up-on-glp-1-weight-loss-journey-and-her-juliet-run/" title="Chrissy Metz Opens Up on GLP-1 Weight Loss Journey and Her & JULIET Run”>weight loss

Kate Beckinsale is opening up about the grief and health issues she says have contributed to changes in her appearance after receiving negative comments about her weight online

The 53-year-old actress shared several messages she’s received from social media users in a post on her Instagram Stories on Saturday, Aug. 8, while explaining why she had deleted all of her other posts

“Loosen up the Ozampic !! You were divine and now you look anorexic!” read one message the “Underworld” actress shared

Beckinsale said her weight has been affected in part by grief following the death of her mother, actress Judy Loe, who died of cancer in July 2025. Her stepfather, director Roy Battersby, died in January 2024

“You take a break from Instagram for several months following the death of your mother, delete all of your posts and explain in some considerable detail about what you may have lost weight including the fact that weight loss is one of the very first physical signs of bereavement,” Beckinsale wrote, per People. “I think people might be broken.”

Beckinsale also addressed the criticism in a 13-part video

“Anytime I post a photo of myself, I receive an enormous amount of comments telling me how disgusting I look and I’m anorexic or I’m on meth or that I’ve lost so much weight,” she said. “First off, I’ve lost my entire family, except my precious daughter, in a short amount of time.”

Continuing, Beckinsale pointed to a medical condition she said has affected her appearance

“The second thing is, I have a condition, which is an autoimmune condition called mast cell activation syndrome,” she said, adding that she was diagnosed 16 years ago

Beckinsale previously disclosed the diagnosis in 2023. Mast cell activation syndrome, or MCAS, is a condition in which mast cells repeatedly release excessive amounts of chemicals that can trigger allergy-like symptoms, according to the Cleveland Clinic

“Treat people just how you’d like to be treated yourself, give people a little grace,” Beckinsale added. “If you don’t have anything nice to say, maybe don’t say anything.”
