The former Nordstrom department store at Clackamas Town Center has sat vacant since 2020, when the retailer closed 16 locations during the coronavirus pandemic. Now, three businesses and one government agency are preparing to move into the space
Movement Climbing, Yoga & Fitness, recently announced plans to open a 31,000-square-footbouldering gym on the ground floor of the former store at 11900 S.E. 82nd Ave
Movement has more than 30 locations across the country, including one in Portland’s Pearl District at 1405 N.W. 14th Ave. This will be the company’s second gym in Oregon
The Clackamas facility will focus on bouldering, a form of climbing performed without ropes over professionally padded flooring, according to a company news release, and will also offer yoga and other fitness programs. The gym is expected to open in 2027
The gym’s neighbor will be the Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles, which plans to lease about 10,000 square feet on the ground floor
Oregon Department of Transportation spokesperson Katherine Benenati <a href="https://healthylife7.com/measles-case-confirmed-in-madison-county-what-health-officials-are-saying/” title=”Measles case confirmed in Madison County, what health officials are saying”>confirmed that the Clackamas Town Center office will replace the DMV’s Mall 205 location, which closed in January 2025 because of what the agency described as “unresolvable facility issues.”
The DMV has not had a Clackamas office since 2010, when it closed its location at the Clackamas Promenade shopping center across the street from Clackamas Town Center
An opening date has not been set, but Benenati said the DMV hopes to have the new office operating by summer 2027
A third upper-level space in the former Nordstrom building will be occupied by Kids Empire, an indoor children’s playground chain. The company operates more than 100 locations across the U.S., including one in Gresham
A company representative said by email that the Clackamas location is tentatively planned to open by December, though that timeline could change
The entire lower level of the former Nordstrom space is still slated to become a new Sky Zone location. The indoor trampoline park was announced in 2024 as a tenant for the roughly 54,000-square-foot space. At the time, Sky Zone said it expected to open in 2025. A Sky Zone spokesperson confirmed that construction is still underway, and the location is slated to open in fall 2026
