For more than half a decade, Chrissy Metz was determined to avoid the big three
As in Ozempic, Mounjaro, Wegovy
Of course, the list of GLP-1 weight loss injectables and the public’s ability to rattle them off has vastly expanded since news of oh-oh-oh Ozempic shot to the top of public consciousness in 2023
But after listening to a friend’s “very thorough” research, she was ready to give it a shot
She’d “been on diets for a very, very long time, since I was a kid,” the 45-year-old explained to E!. But she’d never been able to quiet the food noise until she partnered with Ro, the telehealth company Serena Williamsteamed up with when she was determined to ace a weight loss journey of her own
Metz’s motivation wasn’t “doing it purely for vanity’s sake,” she explained, but rather a desire to carve out her own happily ever after
As she embarked on a three-month Broadway run in & Juliet, the This Is Meauthor recalled asking herself: “‘How can I be the healthiest for the longest?'” she recounted. “‘How can I really make it a priority for my future and what I want my life to look like?'”
And she’s not the only star to learn that parting with her previously held beliefs surrounding weight loss drugs is definitively not sweet sorrow
Having spent her share of time crying on the kitchen floor over her postpartum wellness journey, Trisha Paytas has been thrilled with the 26 pounds she’s shed using Zepbound

“We see so many people losing weight and kind of denying being on a GLP-1,” she explained to People in June, “but I just wanna be as transparent as possible so people know why and then other people who have the same issues with food can feel if it’s right for them.”
And they’re just the latest stars to serve up their reasons for trying the medication. Check out who else has weighed in
Chrissy Metz
After years of feeling “very skeptical of starting a GLP-1” actress Chrissy Metz decided it was time to give it a shot. “I’m just very diligent about what and how things work within the body,” the This Is Us alum explained in an exclusive August 2026 interview with E! News, “and I’m like, ‘Oh, I don’t know what that’s gonna be like.'”But after listening to a friend’s “very thorough” research, she teamed with telehealth company Ro.”I’ve been on diets for a very, very long time, since I was a kid, and I know I can lose weight,” she explained, “but I didn’t know that I could quiet food noise and I didn’t know there were other factors. There’s so much shame around being in a bigger body, so just knowing that I wasn’t doing it purely for vanity’s sake.”Because the result that makes her want to sing its praises is the way it helps her push through eight shows a week in Broadway’s & Juliet.”It’s helped with inflammation,” she noted. “It’s helped with just overall health lab work and blood work and just generally just an overall feeling of space and creativity that the food noise has quieted. It opens up just more ability to be present.”
Trisha Paytas
Having gained 80 pounds in back-to-back pregnancies with Malibu Barbie, Elvis and Aquaman, Trisha Paytas was eager to dive into a new weight loss strategy.”I was starving myself, killing myself in the gym, eating grapefruit for dinner and I just was not losing it,” she recounted to People in June 2026. “And I’ve tried everything else in my life, like all the fad diets, so I was like, ‘OK, I should just try a GLP-1 if it’s working for so many people.'”Six weeks into her Zepbound journey, she was down 26 pounds and making plans to run 26.2 miles as she considers a 2027 marathon.”I’ve lived 38 years of my life obsessing about food,” she explained, “it would be nice to live the next 38 just thinking about food a normal amount.”
Serena Williams
Following years of struggle following the 2017 birth of eldest daughter Alexis, Serena Williams was ready to serve. “No matter what I didārunning, walking, I would walk for hours because they say that’s good,” she detailed on Today in 2025, “I literally was playing a professional sportāand I could never go back to where I needed to be for my health.”After a bit of back-and-forth volleying, the Ro partner stuck with a GLP-1 medication that helped her drop 31 pounds.Sharing her desire to do away with the idea that the medication is a “shortcut,” she explained, “As an athlete and as someone that has done everything, I just couldn’t get my weight to where I needed to be at a healthy place.”
Oprah Winfrey
More than three decades after Oprah Winfrey wheeled a wagon of fat onto her talk show stage, she’s put her new wellness strategy on display. When she revealed in December 2023 that she was taking a weight loss medication, “I was like an anomaly,” she acknowledged on a January 2025 episode of The Oprah Podcast, “an anomaly in that I was willing to say it.”And that wasn’t all that she shared.”One of the things that I realized the very first time I took a GLP-1 was that all these years I thought that thin people, those people just had more willpower,” she noted. “They ate better foods. They were able to stick to it longer. They never had a potato chip.”But when she started her regimen, she realized “that, ‘Oh, they’re not even thinking about it. They’re only eating when they’re hungry and they’re stopping when they’re full.'”Advertisement
Meghan Trainor
The couple that pees together also pokes together. Following the 2021 birth of eldest son Riley, singer Meghan Trainor and her actor husband Daryl Sabara did the 75 Hard challenge, “and, man, did we crush,” Meghan detailed during an April 2025 episode of the couple’s Workin’ On It podcast. “Then, we heard more and more of our friendsāand even our doctorsāwere on Mounjaro and Ozempic.”They each opted to get on the lowest dose possible of Monjaro, combining the shots with exercise and balanced meals. “Daryl and I both do everything together,” the “All About That Bass” singer explained. “And we started that journey.”

I’ve never had abs. And I feel really good, so I’m taking my shirt off a lot.”Despite losing 70 pounds with the help of the drug, Jonathan re-emphasized their stance on body positivity.”I’m all about body neutrality,” they continued. “The way that you look does not define your worth, doesn’t define your lovableness. You are worth love and worth celebration no matter what your body looks like.”

If you want to do Ozempic, hell yeah, girl.”She added, “I want people to feel more comfortable talking about doing it, because I feel like there’s this shame,” she continued. “The shame is only from thin people who want you to stay fat. That’s really where it’s coming from. They’re so mad that you’re getting thin now, because that’s all they have, right? You’re dynamic, you have a good personality, and they’re so mad.”
