“I think I want to get under 200 lbs.,” Smith told People at the Sports Illustrated and Tight End University’s Tight Ends & Friends Concert at The Pinnacle in Nashville last month. “So I was like 275 lbs., somewhere in that world. But I want to get down to like 185 lbs. again.”
Smith’s motivation to shed pounds is not only for himself, but for his fans, so he can perform better on stage
“Keeping the energy on stage and making sure I do that, because I think that takes care of the fans,” he said of what drives him
Reflecting on how his life has changed since losing weight, Smith shared, “I don’t sweat anymore, which is amazing.”

He added, “I used to be totally out of breath tying my shoes. I can jump around a lot more.”
Smith also can’t help but enjoy how clothes are fitting him now that’s down a few sizes
“I just feel better. It’s nice to be able to wear clothes that I like,” he told the outlet. He noted the shirt he was wearing at the event was a large and that “I’ve been double X for the last five or six years, so I’m feeling really good.”
The “Bulletproof” singer decided to focus on weight loss, as well as drinking too much, after suffering a severe upper respiratory infection in 2024

“I knew I was hurting myself, but I couldn’t stop,” he told the outlet in 2025. “It was like looking at this mountain and wondering, ‘How do I get up there?’ I didn’t even know where to start.”
The 40-year-old cut back on drinking and added more protein to his diet among other lifestyle changes and quickly dropped from 280 to 225
“I still struggle with some binge eating,” Smith said. “And if I want to have it, I’m going to have it.”
“But I want to find a way to make it a treat versus a lifestyle thing. If I decide I’m going to have mac and cheese, it’s okay,” he continued
