A Ewing Township woman has been charged after 24 dogs were living at her home in unsanitary conditions, Ewing police announced Thursday, Aug. 20

At 9:55 a.m. on Monday, July 13, officers responded to a residence on Terrence Blvd. after 24 dogs were found living there in conditions not suitable for habitation, Ewing police said. Many of the dogs were also experiencing medical conditions that were not being cared for properly and lacked proper shelter, police said
The dogs were removed from the residence with the assistance of Ewing Animal Control and transported to EASEL Animal Rescue League in Ewing Township for temporary care, police said
Shirley Henderson was charged with failure to provide adequate shelter and care for animals, police said. She also faces several ordinance violations, police said
The dogs were provided veterinary care and ownership was eventually surrendered to EASEL Animal Rescue League, police said. Since surrender, one of the dogs has had a litter of puppies. If anyone is interested in adopting any of these dogs, please reach out to EASEL at 609-883-0540
