In a recent episode of KBC, Amitabh Bachchan <a href="https://healthylife7.com/revealed-the-best-schools-in-australia-for-2026/” title=”Revealed: the best schools in Australia for 2026″>revealed he is adept at household work
Superstar Amitabh Bachchan recently hit headlines when he revealed that he often does household chores at 83. In a recent episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati, the ‘Don’ star revealed he takes responsibility of the household work when staff is not there – mainly to avoid being scolded by his wife Jaya Bachchan.“Whether there are four, eight, or 10 staff members, when there is no one at home, I do all the work myself. I take care of the cleaning and everything,” he revealed. While Bachchan Sr has become an adept at household work to deescalate arguments with his better half, being good at mundane tasks like cleaning, dusting, washing your bathroom and clothes etc has a health benefit backed by science – they can help you live longer.

Household Work Is Boring, But It Can Boost Longevity

Performing even light activity such as washing dishes and cooking may help you live longer.According to a study conducted by the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences, mortality decreased sharply as light-intensity activity levels rose, with every minute up to five hours providing further health advantages. There was a similarly sharp decline in mortality up to a plateau of just 24 minutes per day when physical activity intensity reached a moderate level. Vacuuming, lawn mowing, and brisk walking are examples of moderate-intensity activities. On the other hand, the study discovered that sitting for 9.5 hours or more per day was associated with a markedly increased risk of dying.Another study, conducted by the University of California, which was conducted on over 6,300 women aged 63 and older, who had to wear a measuring device on their hips for seven days. Every 30 minutes of light physical activity, the study found – such as washing windows, folding laundry, cleaning the house etc reduced risk of an early death by 12 per cent.Add ET Logo
