Patrick Mahomes has already conquered the NFL, but his ambitions extend far beyond the football field. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback has turned his enormous playing income and superstar profile into a growing portfolio of business and sports investments. With ownership stakes, endorsement deals, real estate and brand partnerships adding to his wealth, Mahomes is building an empire that could eventually push him into billionaire territory.
Patrick Mahomes is building a business empire beyond his NFL salary
Mahomes’ biggest financial asset remains his Chiefs contract. He signed a 10-year, $450 million deal in 2020, a landmark agreement at the time. Although several quarterbacks now command higher annual salaries, Mahomes has something many of his rivals cannot match: exceptional earning power away from the field.Forbes estimated his off-field earnings at $25 million in 2024, making him the NFL’s most marketable athlete by a considerable margin. His popularity also translates into merchandise sales, with his No. 15 jersey ranking among the league’s biggest sellers.His commercial portfolio is equally broad. Mahomes has worked with Adidas on a signature collection and has appeared in campaigns for major names including State Farm, Subway, T-Mobile, Oakley and Head & Shoulders. He has also been associated with Prime, the beverage company founded by Logan Paul and KSI.But endorsements are only one part of the bigger picture.The quarterback has steadily moved into ownership. He holds an interest in the Kansas City Royals and has invested in Sporting Kansas City. His sports portfolio has also extended into Formula One through an investment in Alpine, alongside a group that has included fellow stars from different sporting worlds.That move fits Mahomes’ competitive personality. He previously explained why the opportunity appealed to him:“I think everybody can see the appeal.“I’ve been able to get to a couple races now, seeing the environment, and then obviously watching the Drive to Survive on Netflix you see how competitive it is.“Any time you get an opportunity to get in on that, I mean I’m as competitive as anyone can get, so hopefully it can open up to some great opportunities and we are able to go to some of those races and have a little stake in the game.”
Patrick Mahomes’ investments stretch into wellness and real estate
Mahomes has also been putting money into businesses outside traditional sports. His investment interests have included Whoop, the wearable technology company focused on fitness and performance data, and Hyperice, where he became both an ambassador and equity holder.Real estate adds another layer to his growing portfolio. His properties have included a Kansas City condo and a large Texas home purchased for about $3.37 million. The Texas property, spanning roughly 7,800 square feet, was later estimated to be worth substantially more.There is also a family connection behind Mahomes’ sporting success. His father, Pat Mahomes Sr, enjoyed a long Major League Baseball career, appearing in more than 300 games. His professional earnings were modest compared with his son’s extraordinary financial rise, but the elder Mahomes gave Patrick an early connection to elite sport.
