One-hundred-year-old Frieda has found her own slice of heaven here on Earth — and she enjoys it with mustard and a side of chopped onion
“Mom wants to show you what we did yesterday,” Queen, her daughter and caretaker, tells TODAY.com over Zoom
Both Frieda and Queen asked that we only use their nicknames to protect their privacy
The pair, who live in Southern California, are smiling as they reveal fresh, matching nail polish — glossy and pink, just like a hot dog
The pair caught the attention of the internet when, on Aug. 13, Queen posted a clip of Frieda on her 100th birthday with her nightly meal: a hot dog and a Diet Coke
“At 100 years old, my Mom has a nightly tradition she never wants to miss,” Queen captioned the post. “Would YOU eat the SAME DINNER every night if it made you happy?”
Frieda was so happy with her favorite foods, she was moved to sing
“Heaven, I’m in heaven, for I’ve got my hot dog and my Diet Coke,” the chanteuse croons, glizzy in one hand, soda in the other. “What could be better than having a hot dog and a Diet Coke? I’m in heaven every night of my life.”
Frieda’s riff on Fred Astaire’s “Cheek to Cheek” garnered millions of views, emoji applause, “diva” declarations and suspicions that she’s found the “fountain of youth.”
Like Astaire, Queen and her mother have been embracing bliss, posting throwbacks like an old“best dressed” clipping in the local newspaper or a birth receipt for Queen from the hospital, as well as Frieda’s favorite foods
On Aug. 29, she sang this ditty while cradling a case of Diet Coke, joking that she plans to drink it until it’s “dry.” The woman is a natural lyricist, to be sure
The comments, thankfully, pass the vibe check
“I see my future and it’s bright,” one person commented
“She’s so wonderful, I appreciate the unbridled joy for simple things,” wrote another
“My daughter asks me to show her the hot dog song video every day,” someone else commented. “Then she giggles as she watches and sings along.”
“I’ve said before and I’ll say it again OKAYYY???” wrote one more fan. “Its her world and we are just mere mortals living in it!!! Leave our Queen alone to live her life!!”
In a follow-up video, Frieda is endearingly unbothered about how she “went viral” … whatever that means
“Are you in your happy place, eating your dog?” her daughter asks. (She is.)
“I just want to say that this has been the most bonding experience for us. We just adore each other,” Queen says, beaming at her mother
Frieda has a “main tip” for those who aim to reach a three-digit age:
