DES MOINES, Iowa —
School meals for students at Des Moines Public Schools could look a bit different this week
The district said a water line broke at the Food and Nutrition Center over the weekend. Officials say an 8-inch fire sprinkler pipe burst inside the facility, flooding parts of the building. Families were notified on Sunday

Des Moines Public Schools said the district will continue offering free breakfast and lunch for students. Families may see temporary menu changes, substitutions, or fewer entree choices
State and local health officials are now working to provide guidance to the district about food safety as crews continue cleaning up the facility
The district said it will share more information if there are any significant changes to school meal distribution
