Acer’s Smaller Intel-Based Gaming Handheld Has Sky

As Atlas holds up the sky, so too does Acer have high hopes for its next handheld, the Acer Predator Atlas 7. It’s a more compact handheld that may still offer strong performance at its lower spec. We’re still waiting to see how much it costs

The Acer Predator Atlas 7 is a little like the Predator Atlas 8 we saw back at Computex 2026, though the most obvious concession is that it trades the 8-inch display for a 7-inch, 1080p LCD display. The other major factor is that the smaller handheld can be equipped with an Intel Arc G3 or an Intel Arc G3 Extreme. The 8-inch Atlas was restricted to the Extreme version of the chip

To explain what that means, the non-Extreme chip includes the Intel Arc B370 GPU, rather than the higher-end Arc B390. That means it holds 10 Xe3 GPU cores instead of 12. Both versions of the chip maximize efficiency on the CPU side to let the GPU really shine. Just like the Atlas 8, this one is a Windows-based handheld. We’re still waiting for Intel and Valve to create some compatibility for SteamOS

The Atlas 7 can support up to 24GB of RAM and 1TB of SSD storage. It’s also packing a large 80Wh battery that should—hopefully—help it keep running for a bare few hours of gaming. One of Acer’s touted design features is the handheld’s dual-fan design. The chassis includes a metal Predator Aeroblade fan alongside a plastic fan, which promises to expel enough heat to keep the Intel chip running efficiently

Design-wise, the handheld looks like the Asus ROG Ally from yesteryear, though with grips that are more reminiscent of the Lenovo Legion Go S. Acer is opting for high quality in this handheld, with TMR (tunneling magnetoresistance) thumbsticks that should better resist any breakage or stick drift. The flat, recessed buttons and dish-shaped D-pad are probably the most interesting part of the controls, but we’ll have to get hands on with it before judging the overall feel

We’ve yet to test the Arc G3 chip, but the Extreme version proved it could excel in performance on a $1,800 MSI Claw 8 EX AI+. And if you’re gagging at that price, we feel your pain. Acer has yet to reveal pricing for either its Predator Atlas 8 or Predator Atlas 7. The company has praised it; we’ll see the handheld come to North America sometime in Q4 this year

There’s a lot to like here, but without a price, we’ll have to wait to judge whether it’s worth considering compared to another handheld like the $1,300 Asus ROG Xbox Ally X20. The RAMpocalypse has not been kind to small gaming devices, and we’re still desperate to see a new handheld in 2026 cost $1,000 or less
