AYUSH should become part of lifestyle before illness: Minister

Union Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying SP Singh Baghel on Saturday called for integrating AYUSH systems into everyday life as a preventive <a href="https://healthylife7.com/rural-americas-healthcare-crisis-the-10-most-vulnerable-states/” title=”Rural America's healthcare crisis: The 10 most vulnerable states”>healthcare measure, rather than relying on them only after illness occurs.
Addressing the second day of the 9th International Health and Wellness Expo (IHWE) 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, Baghel stressed greater coordination among modern medicine, Ayurveda, homoeopathy and naturopathy to achieve a healthier India. “Where treatment ends, Ayurveda begins,” he said, urging people to adopt AYUSH as part of a healthy lifestyle.
Baghel also expressed concern over rising screen time and late-night mobile phone use among young people, saying excessive digital exposure was disrupting sleep cycles. He urged youth to exercise self-discipline and warned that unchecked screen time could create serious health challenges.
Highlighting India’s traditional knowledge, Baghel said several ancient concepts once dismissed were now subjects of scientific research.
The minister also visited exhibition stalls and interacted with exhibitors. Technical sessions of the 18th Aarogya Sangoshthi subsequently focused on emerging cancer treatments, pain management, rehabilitation and multidisciplinary healthcare approaches. Doctors, policymakers and industry representatives participated in the discussions.
