The website includes plain-language legal guides and articles, information about courts, community services, legal aid and lawyer referrals. It also offers step-by-step instructions on how to file forms and a live chat for one-on-one help finding information
Sarah Rick is the director at the Bath Township Public Library. She opened a legal help center at her previous office
“There are those those that just don’t have the economic means to be able to hire someone. Some people just do it on their own, and those that do it on their own, really appreciate it when there’s somewhere where they can figure out what they might need to do,” Rick said
The center is free to the public and will be open during regular library hours, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays
People who live far away or cannot visit the library during operating hours can access the Michigan Legal Help website online
