Who said being a mom means you can’t take a little time for yourself? Not the iconic Bindi Irwin, and we love her for it. Bindi Irwin has had a complete transformation over the years, going from child star to “Dancing With the Stars” winner to passionate conservationist and Australia Zoo CEO before our very eyes. And somewhere in the midst of stardom, marriage, and zookeeping work, she also transformed into a mother. Grace Warrior Irwin Powell, who turned 5 in 2026, is an adorable child who has definitely inherited her mom’s love for animals. But how on earth does Bindi balance motherhood, conservation, and a whole host of other activities? “When you become a mum, you are so busy comforting your kids,” she said in a February 2025 interview with Parents. “But every mother should also be kind and gentle to themselves. I try to take time to do what I love.” At the moment, that looks like trading off bedtime duty with her husband, Chandler Powell, so they can both enjoy some time to themselves. While Chandler gets Grace all ready for a night of rest, Bindi gets some well-deserved me time, and vice versa
Bindi revealed that her current self-care go-to is grabbing a good book and curling up in bed. Sounds like the perfect cozy evening to us. Her genre of choice? Bindi Irwin drew some inspiration from an unusual source close to her heart: working with animals. “Newborns are like teeny, tiny animals that we get at our wildlife hospital,” she told Today in February 2025. “They have absolutely no way of communicating other than crying and you have to figure out what the problem is. They need constant care and 100% of your energy, 100% of the time.”
Taking care of yourself during that high-stress period of parenting is incredibly important.
