Chico State seeks night shift participants for cardiovascular and muscle health study

CHICO, Calif. —Chico State University is recruiting participants for a research study examining the effects of night shift work on cardiovascular and muscle health
Researchers are seeking adults aged 18 to 50 who are apparently healthy and currently work night shifts
To qualify, participants must work at least three hours between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. on at least two days each week

Participants also must have no history of cardiac or metabolic disease, not smoke or use beta-blockers, and weigh more than 110 pounds
The study includes blood draws; questionnaires about participants’ health, physical activity, exercise history and sleep; and maximal cycle exercise testing
Participation is voluntary. Researchers said potential risks are low and include fatigue, discomfort and bruising
