Cleveland Clinic London Launches Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Service for Ages 16-17

Cleveland Clinic London has expanded its orthopaedic and sports medicine services to include patients aged 16 to 17, providing adolescents with access to specialist care for sports injuries, bone and joint conditions, and musculoskeletal disorders
The new service will provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation for adolescents experiencing a wide range of orthopaedic and sports-related conditions. Patients will benefit from Cleveland Clinic London’s multidisciplinary approach, bringing together orthopaedic surgeons, sports medicine specialists, physiotherapists, imaging experts and rehabilitation professionals to deliver coordinated, personalised care
The expansion reflects growing demand for specialist musculoskeletal care among teenagers participating in competitive sport and physical activity, while also supporting adolescents with non-sports-related orthopaedic conditions
“Adolescence is a critical period for musculoskeletal development, and timely access to expert care can make a significant difference in recovery, long-term outcomes and return to activity,” said Phil Ahrens, Cleveland Clinic London, Vice Chief Integrated Surgical Institue and chair of Orthopaedics. “By extending our orthopaedic and sports medicine services to patients aged 16 to 17, we are providing young patients and their families with access to the same high-quality, patient-centred care that Cleveland Clinic is known for around the world.”
The service will support a range of conditions, including:
- Acute sports injuries
- Ligament and tendon injuries
- Knee, shoulder and ankle conditions
- Overuse injuries
- Fracture management
- Sports-related rehabilitation and return-to-play programmes
- General adolescent musculoskeletal concerns
Patients will have access to Cleveland Clinic London’s advanced diagnostic imaging capabilities, evidence-based treatment options and comprehensive rehabilitation services designed to help them return safely to normal activities and sport
