Colo. (KKTV) -A free healthcare clinic is coming to Colorado Springs this weekend, offering medical, dental and vision care to anyone in need, regardless of insurance status or income

Remote Area Medical, or RAM, will host the clinic Saturday and Sunday at Pikes Peak State College. Organizers say patients do not need insurance, identification or proof of income to receive care

The clinic is the first RAM event in Colorado Springs. Local volunteers say they worked for months to bring the nonprofit to the area after hearing from community members who struggled to afford healthcare

“We’ve spoken with a lot of people, and they just don’t have health insurance. Quite a few people I’ve talked to haven’t seen a doctor or any medical professional in more than five years. I hope they show up this weekend,” said Tanya Keesey, a community host group organizer for the clinic

Services include general medical exams, dental cleanings, fillings, extractions, eye exams and prescription glasses for many patients. School physicals will also be available for students preparing to return to class

Clinic coordinator Sandra Hall said the event is designed to help people who have delayed care because of financial barriers

“Millions of people don’t have access to the healthcare that they need in this country,” Hall said. “RAM serves to bridge that gap between the healthcare someone needs and the ability to receive it.”

Organizers expect nearly 300 volunteers to help serve hundreds of patients throughout the weekend

Patients will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis. Parking opens at midnight, and doors open at 6 a.m. Saturday and Sunday

Organizers say they hope a strong turnout will demonstrate the need for the clinic and help make it an annual event in Colorado Springs

From Mila to Many: Making Ultra

    By healthylife7August 1, 20260

When Mila Makovec was three years old, her parents started to notice that something was wrong. Previously an active and healthy toddler, Mila began to get stuck on words, have sight problems, and walk strangely.
