Beloved entertainment icon Dick Van Dyke celebrated his 100th birthday in December 2025, and he is showing his fans that age truly is nothing but a number. A recent Instagram post from the legendary actor has everybody buzzing. Some people admitted they felt somewhat concerned seeing the workout that Van Dyke was doing, while many others cheered him on

On August 28, Van Dyke posted a video on his Instagram page, and in the caption, he included the hashtag “keep moving.” He also included a hashtag that included his initials and age, “#DVD100,” and noted he was doing a “1/2 workout inversion table.”

In the short video clip, Van Dyke was using his inversion table, and it had some of his followers feeling a bit worried. His feet were secured, and he was tilted backward with his head near the ground as his legs rose in the air

According to the Cleveland Clinic, inversion therapy, which is also known as spinal traction, “allows gravity to briefly take the pressure off the nerves of your spine in your lower back and gives the squishy disks between your vertebrae room to relax.”

Dr. Bodepudi of the Cleveland Clinic notes, “The research is mixed” on the effectiveness of inversion therapy. Some fans of the inversion table feel it helps with issues such as chronic low back pain and muscle spasms, and Van Dyke obviously believes the therapy is beneficial to him

Van Dyke’s post received hundreds of comments, with many admitting they were quite impressed. Quite a few people, however, left notes urging him to be careful and safe

One comment read, “Sir…can you just take it easy…we had a rough week.”

Another fan added, “PROTECT HIM AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!”

Someone else wrote, “I’m torn between telling him to keep it up and telling him to go inside because it’s not safe right now.”

Those types of comments were clearly referencing the heartbreaking death of Dolly Parton on August 25 at the age of 80. Shortly after news of Parton’s death emerged, entertainer Tim Curry, beloved by many for his role in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, also died

Van Dyke wrote about his workout regimen in his book, 100 Rules for Living to 100: An Optimist’s Guide to a Happy Life, which was released in November 2025. According to Us Weekly, Van Dyke revealed in his book that he still tries to “hit the gym three times a week,” and he starts to feel stiff in his joints if he skips too many days

He likes to do circuit training at the gym, he wrote, and he keeps moving and exercising because he loves the effects. “Full-body tingly exhilaration, sharper mind, sense of accomplishment to bask in for the rest of the day, nap time well-earned, limber dancing in the days ahead,” Van Dyke raved of the benefits he experiences by exercising regularly

Staying active clearly keeps Van Dyke feeling young, and fans made it clear they want him to do whatever he needs to do to stay healthy and safe
