Rochester, N.Y. — Summer meals are hitting the road courtesy of Foodlink
The non-profit’s Meal Mobiles are rolling through Rochester neighborhoods, delivering free healthy food
The ice cream truck-style system ensures that children receive well-balanced meals and snacks while school is out for the summer
“We do a lot of brick-and-mortar <a href="https://healthylife7.com/usda-to-buy-20m-in-catfish-for-nutrition-programs/” title=”USDA to buy $20M in catfish for nutrition programs”>programs as well as open sites, but these meals specifically can go to kids that may not necessarily be in a program but still in need of a meal,” said Macie McGowan, vice president of community programs at Foodlink. “These meals are especially impactful because we can provide meals at any time of day; they can take them home and put them in the fridge if they want to eat them for dinner instead, so it’s definitely a good feeling.”
So far this summer, Foodlink has delivered more than 13,000 meals through this program
Meals are served starting at 11 a.m. and are available while supplies last
