Ind. (WPTA) – A full-scale emergency response exercise is scheduled to be held in southern Allen County on Saturday
Allen County Local Emergency Planning Committee is alerting residents that there will be an increased presence of emergency responders and vehicles at Macro
According to organizers, the exercise will simulate an accidental release of anhydrous ammonia, a hazardous material that is used safely every day in Allen County for agriculture, food processing, and industrial refrigeration
Organizers say the exercise is the final phase of a three-year training program and provides emergency responders an opportunity to practice together under realistic conditions
Organizers note the exercise is controlled with no threat to the public and say in addition to an increased presence of emergency responders and vehicles, residents can expect to see signals, sirens, and slower traffic nearby
Local emergency response services will operate without disruption, organizers say. If you experience an emergency during the exercise, you are asked to contact your local emergency responsers as usual
