WALES’ Health Minister Mabon ap Gwynfor will officially open the new Wellbeing Gardens at Parc Dewi Sant in Carmarthen during a free community celebration later this month

The event, Growing & Living Well Together, will take place on Thursday, August 13, from 10.00am to 1.00pm at the Carmarthenshire Living Well Centre, Building 1, Parc Dewi Sant

Organised by community development charity PLANED, Parc Dewi Sant Wellbeing Gardens CIC and People Speak Up (PSU) Charity, the free event aims to showcase the support, activities and facilities available to local people throughout the year

The celebrations will begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and welcome speeches at 10.15am, officially opening the new wellbeing gardens

Visitors will then be able to explore the gardens and Living Well Centre while taking part in a range of free activities, including nature and gardening sessions, a history tour, Lindy Hop dance classes, a silent disco, craft activities, gentle movement sessions and a performance by the People Speak Up Choir

There will also be a bouncy castle, a visit from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, a “Walk and Talk with a Doc”, self-defence and arm-wrestling activities with Community Gym, and a Men’s Shed activity stand

A number of local organisations will be attending with information stalls, including The Wallich, Nelson Trust, Foothold Cymru, Dolen Teifi, Delta Wellbeing, Parkrun and Dyfed-Powys Police

Free refreshments will be available throughout the event, alongside a raffle and cake sale to raise funds for the continued development of the wellbeing gardens

Cris Tomos, Chief Executive of PLANED, said: “Whether you’re looking to improve your wellbeing, meet new people, discover local free support, or simply enjoy a great day out, there’s something for everyone at Growing & Living Well Together

“We can’t wait to see Health Minister Mabon ap Gwynfor officially open the Wellbeing Gardens and share everything Parc Dewi Sant has to offer with the community.”

The event will conclude with a final performance by the People Speak Up Choir before closing at 1.00pm

Entry is free and organisers are encouraging people from across Carmarthenshire to attend
