Healthcare leaders and local leaders kick off voter registration drive Saturday
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Healthcare workers and local leaders kicked off a voter registration drive at Seabreeze Amusement Park Saturday, aiming to protect healthcare funding in the upcoming election
Members of 1199SEIU, community groups and elected leaders gathered at Seabreeze Amusement Park in Rochester for a family event with a serious purpose. With more than a trillion dollars in federal healthcare cuts at stake, workers are mobilizing to get out the vote this November
“We’ve had cuts in the nursing homes in Buffalo, with fines and the cost of living going up,” said LPN Tina Black said. “It’s really important we get votes up there with the election and hopefully we can make some change, get it back to the way it was or a little bit better.”
Union members from across upstate New York will be registering voters and organizing volunteer efforts through Election Day. They are supporting candidates who back healthcare priorities
