If you’re a fan of Tom’s Palette, you have about two months left to get your fill of its unique gelato flavours before it is gone for good
On Tuesday (Aug 11), the homegrown brand announced on social media that it would close in mid- to late-October
“It’s been 21 years since we first opened our doors. We’re very sorry we can’t keep this dream running for much longer,” Tom’s Palette said
The brand, which started out in Shaw Tower back in 2005, now has outlets in Bugis and Kovan
Referring to the slew of F&B closures this year, Tom’s Palette general manager Faith Yap said: “Back in April, I sat here wondering if we were next, and unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we are next.”
Although the business may appear successful to many, the dessert industry only does well for three hours out of the day, she pointed out
“It’s not enough to pay for the 21 hours when there’s not a lot of people.”
Faith encouraged customers to make the best out of the time they had left together.
Leading up to its closure, Tom’s Palette will be bringing back its most-requested flavours as part of their Encore Collection every Tuesday at 6pm
These include Black Sesame Brittle, Soybean Youtiao and Mao Shan Wang among others

Tom’s Palette’s closure announcement took customers by surprise, with many expressing their sadness and sharing the memories from their visits to the brand’s outlets
One customer shared how the brand’s Bugis outlet is his and his wife’s go-to spot to bring friends from abroad.
He wrote: “It breaks my heart that our perfect place of hellos is now where we’ll be going to say our goodbyes… This honestly hurts, like saying goodbye to an old friend.”
“It’s heartbreaking to know that this might be the end of the chapter but thank you for being that little space in the middle of town that has seen me grow up. I will remember you guys for a real long time,” another commented
Tom’s Palette has also urged those interested in continuing the brand’s legacy to contact them.
“It is our sincere belief that Tom’s Palette still has a lot of potential, but unfortunately we lack the reor sale’ page on its website
The homegrown gelato brand is offering the rights to the brand, over 250 recipes among others
Tom’s Palette’s closure follows a series of longtime dessert shop closures this year, including that of Tarte by Cheryl Koh, Pantler Patisserie as well as Laurent Cafe and Chocolatier
