Kate Beckinsale took to social media to address the criticism surrounding her recent weight loss. On August 8, the 53-year-old reposted several cruel comments she had received on her Instagram Stories before penning a heartfelt response
The messages came from social media users urging her to gain weight and accusing her of using weight-loss drugs. “You take a break from Instagram for several months following the death of your mother, delete all of your posts and explain in some considerable detail about why you may have lost weight including the fact that weight loss is one of the very first physical signs of bereavement…I think people might be broken,” wrote Kate
Kate then shared a post addressing her battle with Master Cell Activation Syndrome, an autoimmune disease. “Fairly chaotic discussion of mast cell disease and mast cell activation syndrome which more and more doctors are becoming aware of given that a lot of people with long Covid have developed it unfortunately for them- but fortunately for the community,” she wrote in the caption
“I will forever be grateful to the histamine Queen who was the most generous and unbelievably kind rewith cancer and who tragically lost her battle with cancer leaving an enormous and irreplaceable hole in the universe.”

Kate Beckinsale’s mother’s passing
In July, Kate announced that her mom, Judy Loe, 78, had passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer, and revealed that she was “paralyzed” with grief. “I don’t want to post this. I am only posting this because I have had to register my mother’s death certificate and it will soon become public record,” Kate wrote in the caption
“She died the night of July 15th in my arms after immeasurable suffering. I have not picked all the best photos, nor the best videos, because I cannot bear to go through my camera roll yet.”
“I deeply apologize to any of her friends who are finding out this way or through the press, but I cannot go through her phone. I am paralyzed,” she continued.
“Jude was the compass of my life, the love of my life, my dearest friend. The vastness and huge heart of this tiny woman has touched so many people who love her dearly.”
Judy shared that she had stage four cancer in July 2024, shortly after the death of her husband, Roy Battersby.
