Dallas Mavericks guard Klay Thompson just went viral for draining 72 straight three-pointers in an offseason workout. The crazy footage, filmed by trainer Chris Brickley at Summit gym in New York, shows Thompson absolutely invested in his deep throws while everyone in the room was counting.

The four-time NBA champion spent his first 13 seasons with the Golden State Warriors before joining the Mavericks. Fans who loved watching the iconic Splash Brothers play together felt heartbroken.
When his debut year in Dallas turned out decent, averaging 14 points and shooting 39.1% from deep, critics began questioning his consistency. He was even more underwhelming this past season, averaging 11.7 points and shooting 38.3% from deep. But this viral shooting streak proves he still has elite touch with the ball.
Naturally, the clip immediately takes fans back to that fan favorite video of Steph Curry hitting 105 three-pointers in a row a few years ago. Thompson couldn’t beat his old Splash Brother’s record here, but it was enough to answer his critics.

Over his incredible career, Thompson has knocked down 2899 triples while keeping his career average right around 41% from deep. And after two disappointing years, this one video again proved why he is one of the league’s best sharpshooters. Folks haven’t stopped praising him since the video went viral
One fan wrote, “Recency bias has people forgetting how deadly he was.”
Another added, “Come back to @warriors.”
A third one penned, “Now if only he can play 72 games in a row.”
The fourth fan claimed, “But they give Steph all the credit — two of the top-5 shooters ever playing together is bananas.”

For Mavs fans, this flashy summer clip brings hope that Thompson still has the tools to turn things around. He needs to bring a winning culture back to a franchise that came up short last year
He is locked in to make $17.46 million this upcoming season. It is a very good sign that his shooting form still looks so impressive at 36
Fans can keep their fingers crossed that Thompson might finally make some noise heading into training camp for the new season with a healthy Kyrie Irving back on the court alongside him and Cooper Flagg.
