Lamar Jackson found a new way to improve his conditioning before reporting for the Baltimore Ravens’ 2026 training camp

Jackson incorporated boxing into his offseason program while training alongside wide receiver Zay Flowers in Florida. The workouts were not preparation for a second career. Jackson viewed them as an opportunity to add another demanding cardio session to an already extensive routine

“Just cardio. That’s what I did it for,” Jackson said during an appearance on“The Lounge” podcast.“Me and Zay, just cardio. We would work out like 6 in the morning, 7 in the morning. Then we’ll go box for extra cardio.”

Jackson introduced Flowers to the sessions after hearing about the workout from a friend who had begun boxing for fitness. The quarterback quickly recognized how the activity could complement his football preparation

“I’m like, ‘Yeah, that’s a good workout,'” Jackson said. “So I told him, ‘Man, let’s go work out. Let’s go box.’ Just been doing it ever since.”

The results led Jackson to believe he had entered camp in better condition than in previous years. He even acknowledged that he wished he had started boxing earlier in the offseason. Jackson’s conditioning became a significant topic after injuries disrupted his 2025 season. He missed four games and finished with career lows of 349 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. Although Jackson dismissed the idea that those totals indicated a decline in his running ability, remaining healthy will be essential to Baltimore’s championship hopes.

Training with Flowers also allowed the Ravens’ most important passing combination to continue building chemistry away from the team facility. Flowers caught a career-high 86 passes for 1,211 yards last season and earned his second consecutive Pro Bowl selection

Jackson is entering camp optimistic about his health and convinced that his expanded offseason routine has him prepared for a rebound

“I feel like I’m in phenomenal shape,” Jackson said. “Better shape than even previous years.”
