Redwood Regatta
The Humboldt Yacht Club will host the “Redwood Regatta” Sept. 5 and 6 starting at 8:30 a.m. both days on the north side of Big Lagoon off U.S. Highway 101

Grange breakfast
A pancake breakfast will be served Sept. 6 from 8 to 11 a.m. at Freshwater Grange, 49 Grange Road, Freshwater
The menu will include buttermilk or whole-grain pancakes, ham, sausage, scrambled eggs, apple compote, orange juice, tea and French roast coffee. Quilts by Renee Stauffer will be on display
On genealogy
The Redwood Genealogical Society “Speaker Luncheon” will meet at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 9 at Locha’s Restaurant, 751 S. Fortuna Blvd., Fortuna.
The program begins at noon with speaker Nan Abrams, whose presentation focuses on “The Early Jewish Settlements of the Eel River Valley of Southern Humboldt.” Abrams further states that the settlement areas include Rio Del, Fortuna, Ferndale, Hydesville and Petrolia,
Redwood Genealogical Society meetings are free and open to the public. An optional lunch of two tacos, chips and a beverage will be available for $15, including tax.
