Colo. (KKTV) – The City of Colorado Springs, Colorado Springs Airport, and others will conduct a full-scale emergency exercise at the airport on Wednesday, prompting additional emergency vehicles and personnel as well as potential visible smoke and flames
Colorado Springs Airport officials said that from 9 a.m. to noon, the City, Airport, Colorado Springs Fire Department, Colorado Springs Police Department, Pikes Peak Regional Office of Emergency Management and other partnering agencies will conduct the exercise
Airport officials advise the public that during the exercise, there will be an increased presence of emergency vehicles, actors and personnel in the area
Smoke and flames may be visible on the north-west side of airport property, however, there is no actual emergency taking place, as this is a planned emergency response training, officials said
There will be no impact on airport or flight operations, officials said
The exercise is being conducted in accordance with Federal Are airports to complete full-scale emergency drills every three years
